Most cookies are benign

Almost all uses for Cookies are either benign or actively helpful. It's actually very hard to subvert Cookies to evil purposes--- although anti-Cookie fanatics make them sound like a gaping security hole. They're not: Most Cookies are utterly harmless.

Internet Junkbuster

Here's another possible aid to blocking cookies. I haven't tried it myself, but hope to find a review of it from an impartial source like Langa List.

The Internet Junkbuster stops almost all cookies, except from sites you tell it are allowed to set cookies. It also helps prevent the disclosure of other details that surfers often want kept private, such as information about the page clicked on, and their computer's software and hardware configuration. These features can be optionally disabled or altered.

Cookie Central

My internet friend Mike asked some questions about cookies and I had to look up for some of the answers. Cookie Central is an excellent information source:
"The Persistent Cookie protocol was first developed by Netscape to maintain state in the stateless environment of HTTP. It has turned out to have many uses, good and bad, and many far from its original intent in the first place."

The browser I use now, Opera, allows considerable choice on acceptance of cookies and downloading of ads. It does not work with Blogger, however.

Install BlogThis!

Install BlogThis! ... a new version you can download from Phil Ringnalda's site. This lets you capture a url of a site while surfing, and automatically opens your blog entry page, where you can select which blog gets the link and add other coments as usual. Great shortcut.
Thx Phil!

@ import

Okay, here's more on the @import method of applying a style sheet to your html page.
Mako4CSS has a nice web site that explains how style sheets work, what is the casacading order, and the syntax to use. All the various ways can be applied to one web page, and conflicts among them are resolved according to the cascade rules.
Cascade and inheritance are described too.
I do not get the difference, however, between using an external stylesheet by @import and using a linked style sheet.
