Sunday, July 21, 2002 Avoid horizontal scrolling (usually) Remember that horizontal scrolling is caused by content being wider than the window not the screen :-) --Andrew, who gives the best answers on hwg-techniques. I have seen people who feel they must avoid ALL scrolling. While most web pages, especially opening or home pages should not be overly long, vertical scrolling is perfectly ok (in English and any read left-to-right languages). The user doesn't much mind scrolling a bit ever few paragraphs. With horizontal scrolling, however, they must scroll over and back for EVERY line, and that is a major annoyance! The only time I've seen it look all right is for a picture gallery effect, where images were lined up left to right as if on a gallery wall, and it was not necessary to scroll up and down. Tuesday, July 16, 2002 Cool game Friday, July 12, 2002 Havent published anything here in some time, as I have been trying to learn DreamWeaver. Im pretty slow. I bought a book with a title like Learn DW in One Week and it included a CD with the software that's good for 30 days. Well, the 30 days ran out. I used it enough to determine it would be agood value for me, though, and purchased it. |
